Further to its disappearance, last Thursday, the Breton Party is anxious to honour Gwynfor Evans, one of the most important Welsh personalities of the XXth century.
By his action and his political commitment, G. Evans will have been the main actor of the revival of the Welsh nationalism giving to the Plaid Cymru an inescapable place in the political life of Wales; lauding a quiet but firm nationalism, G. Evans undertook on all the fronts for the national revival of the Welsh people, the official recognition of the Welsh language and, pause of his fight, the obtaining of the television channel S4C in 1980. It is as well thanks to its determination as Wales obtained a National Assembly in 1999.
G Evans always participated in the development of the links between the various Celtic nations and particularly with Brittany where he came several times to make conferences and to tie up numerous contacts. G. Evans did not miss to intervene regularly at the British level to denounce the conditions made for the Breton language notably.
Gwynfor Evans will remain a real example for all the nationalist movements of the Celtic countries
