The Irish Justice Minister, Alan Shatter, T.D., is seeking a report on matters raised by the Celtic League last month concerning rendition.

The statement comes in correspondence to the League from the Ministers Office.

Last month the Celtic League told the Minister new evidence uncovered by Human Rights Watch in Libya linked an aircraft which had used Shannon to the rendition activities of the CIA, in which alleged terrorist suspects had been flown to countries where they were tortured to reveal information.

The League accused An Garda Siochana of sitting on its thumbs over the issue and failing to mount a serious investigation.
