?Despite all there electronic prowess the snoops at GCHQ have never been able to explain what happened to one of their former colleagues i.e. ?the spy in the sports bag? Gareth Williams?Latest leaks from the whistleblower Edwin Snowden confirm the hitherto unknown links between GCHQ and the ?plod? in the devolved administrations (link): (voir le site) Scottish (independence supporting) newspaper The National reports that the ?Cheltenham sleuths? shared information including vast amounts of meta data involving personal emails from its online snooping to a little known and bizarrely named Police Scotland unit ?The Scottish Recording Centre?. What exactly the Scottish plod did with this ?treasure trove? one can only guess. The news begs the questions what other devolved administrations get to have a share of the GCHQ lucky bag.Undoubtedly the ?statelet? that the United Kingdom cling on to in the North East of Ireland will be in the frame for juicy morsels of meta data however something tells us that rather than share with the PSNI the ?goodies? will have gone to the UKs purpose built ?intelligence? centre near Belfast. Many years ago in the days of the long departed RUC the ?brits? realised that they could not trust their loyal colleagues in Ulster law enforcement so when it comes to ?sharesies? the Ulster plod are kept at arms length. As for Mann and the other offshore rocks the Brits still maintain an interest in well we are pretty certain they don?t get a look in. After all if they did are IOM Financial Crime Unit might end up intercepting a fraud before it has occurred!Meanwhile despite all there electronic prowess the snoops at GCHQ have never been able to explain what happened to one of their former colleagues i.e. ?the spy in the sports bag? Welsh man Gareth Williams (link): (voir le site) fate of Mr Williams has been the subject of lurid speculation and links to Russian intelligence however one of the most unsettling aspects of the case is that although involved in sensitive work for GCHQ the absence of Mr Williams dd not seem to ring any alarm bells in the Cheltenham warren. That fact alone leads some to believe that the UKs own intelligence service may have been involved in his death!BERNARD MOFFATTPublic Relations Officer Mannin BranchIssued by: The Mannin branch of the Celtic League – bringing you news you will not always get from the main stream Manx media.TEL: 01624 877918 or 07624 49160912/06/16THE CELTIC LEAGUEThe Celtic League established in 1961 has branches in the six Celtic Countries including our own Mannin branch.
