?NATIONALITY is more than a flag, more than a culture, more than a language ? it?s also having the courage to run your own affairs and not be in some other countries pocket?A petition has been started to get Manx included as an option on the census form. It?s a long shot the forms are out now and probably people will have to improvise if they feel sufficiently animated by the issue to register a protest. Most people I?ve spoken to (and that?s quite a few) have indicated they will just put MANX in the ?Other? option slot. Some however are adamant that they will write MANX boldly right across the section. A smaller number said they will not fill in the census which should prompt the ire of the ?census police?!I made some comment about this when the news broke that folk were concerned ? here?s the link: (voir le site) was somewhat laid back about it as there are options – some outlined above – to get round it and anyway if we had the courage as a nation to take our independence we would not be having this debate because the first option on the form would be MANX. To borrow a term from hapless cabinet officer spokesperson in that scenario it would be a recognised as ?legal? in terms of International law.At the moment the term Manx is not recognised in International legal terms because most people haven?t the courage to assert their National pride and call for full independence. In those circumstances you can?t really complain if a census comes round and you don?t even get a ?MANX LITE? option.Make sure by the time the next census falls due the Island is independent and then there won?t be a problem!NATIONALITY is more than a flag, more than a culture, more than a language ? it?s having the courage to run your own affairs in your own sovereign independent State and not be in some other countries pocket.By the way for those who see some impediment to this there are a a lot of smaller countries in the World doing just that and they get to have their nationality on their census forms! Here?s the petition link: (voir le site) MOFFATTIssued by: The Manx branch of the Celtic LeagueTEL: 01624 877918 or 07624 49160917/04/16THE CELTIC LEAGUEThe Celtic League established in 1961 has branches in the six Celtic Countries including our own Mannin branch.
