NEWS FROM CELTIC LEAGUE Carn Editor Steps Down After 29 Years A new editor has been appointed at this years? Celtic League Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Pontypridd, Cymru/Wales, following a decision by Patricia (Pat) Bridson to step down after 29 years editing ?Carn? magazine. Carn was originally launched in 1973 and is the Celtic League?s longest running publication. Pat Bridson took over as editor of Carn in 1984 and decided to step down to be able to spend more time writing. The AGM gave thanks to Patricia Bridson for her many years of unswerving service in the role as editor and stated that she felt privileged to have been able to work in such a position for so long. The role of editor is purely voluntary and is dependent on delegates, at each AGM, proposing a new editor or proposing that the existing editor continues in their duties. It has been in the recognition of Pat?s commitment and excellent work as editor that for 29 years, delegates have consistently proposed and voted her into the same role on an annual basis. However, even though she will not be continuing as editor, Pat has agreed to work on an editorial board (along with others) that was set up at the 2013 AGM in order to ensure the transition between editors runs as smoothly as possible. The General Secretary (GS) of the League formally thanked Pat for her long standing service as editor and was himself proposed and formally elected as the new editor of Carn by delegates. The main aim of Carn is to act as a link between the Celtic nations of Alba (Scotland), Breizh (Brittany), Cymru (Wales), Éire (Ireland), Kernow (Cornwall) and Mannin (Isle of Man) and highlighting and furthering the aims of the Celtic League. Carn publishes articles in all six Celtic languages in every edition, even though English is also used throughout and is a valuable resource to speakers of Celtic languages and those interested in the Celtic countries alike. Rhisiart Tal-e-bot is the new editor of Carn and any submissions to Carn for consideration should now be sent to him at editor [at] celticleague.net. 28/10/13 For comment or clarification on this news item in the first instance contact: Rhisiart Tal-e-bot
