Celtic League Secretary General, Rhisiart Tal-e-bot, has followed up his calls to the Irish government to end the use of airport facilities in Ireland for military activity which is stoking Middle East violence with a similar query to the Scottish authorities see below:
"Stewart Stevenson MSP The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change The Scottish Parliament Edinburgh EH99 1SP
Dear Minister Stewart Stevenson MSP
Use of Prestwick Airport by US military
Following our previous letter to Tavish Scott, ex Scottish Transport Minister and copied to Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport(see enclosed), we would like to know what your own position is as Scotland's new Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change on the use of Prestwick airport as a transit point for arms shipments to the Israeli Defence Forces.
In addition we would also like to know what your position is on the use of Prestwick Airport as a stopover airport for flights to the US in its transportation of terrorist suspects over the last few years. Will the new Scottish Executive attempt to ensure that no such use of Prestwick or any other Scottish airport be used for such purposes in the future?
Also, will the new Scottish Executive be calling for an enquiry to establish if the actions of those in the United Kingdom who authorise or facilitate the shipments are guilty of crimes under International law?
We look forward to hearing from you and I would like to wish you good luck and success in your new appointment.
Yours sincerely
Rhisiart Tal-e-bot"
