NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE We are a little perplexed by a reply received from the Chief Secretary to a query we sent to the Chief Minister about the recent Reserve Forces initiative on the Isle of Man. We asked had the normal protocols of consultation been observed (see link). The reply says: ?Dear Mr Moffatt Thank you for your letter to the Chief Minister of 13 May 2015 in respect of the current reserve forces recruitment initiative. The Chief Minister has asked me to advise that the Chief Secretary and the Council of Ministers were advised of this initiative in early March. The level of interest generated by the recruitment drive will determine whether it is viable for an Isle of Man Reserve Forces sub-unit to be established. If it is the case that such a sub-unit is to be established then, at that time, formal communication through official channels will follow. The Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for the North West of England and the Isle of Man has a permanent presence in the form of a Member of Tynwald who is appointed to be the Island?s representative. The current representative is Hon Juan Watterson MHK who is also the Armed Forces Champion. I hope this is helpful. Yours sincerely? We noted that the letter says that Council of Ministers (COMIN) were advised of these military developments in early March. However, on looking at the summary of COMIN minutes for March we can find no mention despite it being a very comprehensive summary?
