Meeting on education in Breton language at University.
[ABP] On Saturday 16th December a meeting in Breton was hold on the theme: 'Education in Breton at University'. The meeting was followed up by a press conference.
The gathering was presided over by Lukian Kergoat, Breton Teacher at Rennes 2 University, Tangi Louarn, Vice President of Brittany's Cultural Council and Gwenvael Jéquel, who is the co-ordinator of Brittany's Cultural Council.
All the participants who attended the meeting play a role in institutions where Breton is given importance: pedagogical associations, bilingual schools etc.
This meeting was organised following a congress by Brittany's Cultural Council where attendees had concluded that Breton had become a meaningful part of education. It is now necessary to satisfy some social requests, which come from students and employees.
The first part of the meeting evaluated potential demand for vocational training - with whom, where and with what openings for Breton language. The second part was based on three themes:
1st theme: How could vocational training be integrated into education in Breton so that students could thereby get the opportunity to practice?
2nd theme: Artistic professions (literature, drama, audiovisual etc.)
3rd theme: How to create a place to think about the future of Breton and to popularize education in Breton on the model of a Summer University?
