NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Annual General Meeting of the Mannin Branch of the Celtic League was held in Peel on Monday 22nd June at St Patricks Hall, Peel. The meeting began with the Minutes of the last branch AGM (held on 9th June 2014) this was followed by reports from the existing Officers covering the past year with Mark Kermode, who chaired the meeting, providing a detailed update on the National situation. Roy Kennaugh (Secretary) provided a breakdown on the schedule of meetings and events held during the year and the branch involvement with Mec Vannin on Tynwald Day and at the National Illiam Dhone commemoration held on Jan 2nd 2015. He advised that the latter event had been useful from both the point of view of publicity and recruitment of new members. A submission from Branch Treasurer, Cristl Jerry, confirmed that branch finances were sound. Bernard Moffatt, Director of Information on the League General Council, gave a general update on the performance of the League highlighting the expansion of the number of on-line publicity initiatives that had taken place during the years in several branches. In relation to Mannin he stressed that the decision to establish Facebook and twitter sites for Mannin branch had been one of our best decisions and the initiatives should be further developed. Thanks were recorded to the branch members administering the sites. He also stressed that International links had also improved with a regular correspondent now providing updates to him on Patagonia and the wider Latin American Diaspora. He pointed out that all Celtic League activity throughout the six countries and internationally is circulated promptly on both our main web site and via the various National Branch Facebook sites Roy Kennaugh, Allen Moore, Alistair Kneale and Bernard Moffatt also provided a report on the Inter-Celtic AGM which had taken place in March at the HQ of the Gaelic League in Dublin . It was felt this had been a great success and a solid programme of business had been achieved and a good programme of social events had been arranged by the Irish hosts. The meeting then moved to the election of Officers and the following persons were confirmed in post for the year 2015-16 Convenor/Chairperson: Mark Kermode Secretary: Roy Kennaugh Treasurer: Cristl Jerry In addition the two ex-officio positions established for the 2014-15 term were continued for another year: Minute Secretary/PRO: Bernard Moffatt Environmental Officer: Allen Moore Finally it was resolved that the regular schedule of meetings would continue for the coming year, although there would be a summer recess and meetings would recommence on a monthly basis from September, draft resolutions for the next Inter-Celtic AGM (which again will be held in Dublin next year to coincide with the 1916 centenary commemoration) would be considered at that meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to all branch officers for their good work over the past twelve months.
