The General Council of the Celtic League has now voted for the resolutions that were introduced at the organisations? General Assembly (GA) between 28th and 30th October 2011 in Alba/Scotland. Due to a lack of time at the GA delegates were not able to vote on the motions and it was resolved that the General Council would vote on the motions remotely after the event. The full list of the resolutions passed from the 2011 GA can be found below and is the responsibility of the instigator of the resolution to act on it in the first instance. Resolutions Passed, Alba Alba i.That any forth coming Scottish Independence referendum be monitored by international observers. ii.That the Scottish Government sets aside April 21st as John Muir Day. iii.We view with dismay the increasing use of English in Gàidhlig broadcasting. iv.The Alba Branch calls for action to be taken to rehabilitate and propagate the reputation of Ruraidh Erskine of Marr who has a claim to be called Father of modern pan Celticism and an Erskine Memorial Lecture on pan Celticism. v.That the Irish Government appoint an official already in post to extend their remit to take in Inter-Celtic Affairs. vi.Urges all League Members to prevail upon their MEP?s to see that the Lesser-used Language Bureau is restored in some form. This AGM reiterates our call for an open and transparent independent enquiry into Maghaberry prison and calls for the agreement with the prisoners in Maghaberry that was signed in August 2010 to be implemented immediately. iii.Glaonn an Cruinniú Chinn Bliana seo ar Rialtas Bhaile Átha Cliath éirí as bheith ag chur áiseanna ar fáil do Fórsaí Míleata Eachtrannach (i.e. Sionainn á úsáid go rialta ag Fórsaí Míleata Stáit Aontaithe Meiriceá) láithreach. That this AGM calls on the Dublin Government to stop providing facilities to Foreign Military Forces (i.e. Shannon being used regularly by the Military Forces of the United States of America) immediately. Director of Information This AGM: i.Welcomes the peace process in the Basque country and wishes it well. ii.Welcomes the victory of the SNP and its commitment to seek independence and urges the other Celtic national movements to be heartened by the Scottish example. iii.State that the Fukishima nuclear disaster highlights the need for the League to renew its opposition to new-build nuclear power stations in the UK.
