Concerning the autonomist parties, the results remain generally disappointing: they did not record any significant progress in Brittany. The only positive note is that the autonomist Christian Troadec has been re-elected in Carhaix for the fifth consecutive time.
In Brest, the shift is historic: Stéphane Roudaut (right) wins decisively with 57.4% of the votes against the outgoing socialist mayor François Cuillandre (38.3%), ending 37 years of left-wing governance in the city of Ponant. Other medium-sized or intermediate cities have also shifted, illustrating a favorable dynamic for the right in areas where the fatigue of socialist power and unfulfilled promises have been felt.
Except for Brest, the Socialist Party retains its major metropolitan areas. In Rennes, the outgoing mayor Nathalie Appéré is re-elected with 43.8% of the votes, clearly ahead of her competitors from the center and the radical left. In Nantes, Johanna Rolland (PS, allied with LFI) retains the mayoralty with 52.2% against the right. Morlaix also remains in the hands of the left: the outgoing mayor Jean-Paul Vermot (PS, Morlaix Ensemble list) is re-elected in the first round with 64.8% of the votes.
The National Rally, on the other hand, does not win any mayoralties in Brittany. Despite a discreet increase and the election of a few municipal councilors in several major cities, the far-right party remains confined to a marginal role in the region, confirming its status as a "mission territory" where it struggles to establish itself sustainably. Like in Corsica, the Bretons do not necessarily agree with the definition of this "national" since they themselves form a very old nation. As for the "New France" proposed by LFI, which also denies the ancient nations that compose it, it does not gain traction in Brittany either.
Regarding the autonomist parties, the results remain generally disappointing: they did not record any significant progress in the region. The only positive note is that the autonomist Christian Troadec has been re-elected in Carhaix for the fifth consecutive time. The UDB remains present in several municipal councils and retains two councilors in the left majority in Nantes, to which Aziliz Gouez from "Breizh a Gleizh" is added. The Breton Party makes its entry into the municipal councils of several small rural municipalities as well as in Guérande and Saint-Brieuc.
