Plaid's Health spokesperson has branded Helen Mary Jones AM said this was a clear indication of the dishonest game that Conservatives have been playing with the Welsh public. The Llanelli AM said it was disgraceful that Tory AMs in Wales were telling front line NHS staff here that they were supporting them, only to see the Tory leadership in Westminster choosing to privatise the service. Hywel Williams MP called the reforms evidence of the Tories pursuing an ideological and cynical agenda . The Arfon MP contrasted the attitude of the Tories with that of the Plaid-driven Welsh government which has chosen to protect vital public services and not the profits of private medical companies. Helen Mary Jones AM said: This is a true reflection of what the Tories really think about the health services and its staff. It is all very well for Conservative AMs to be pretending to offer the service support in Wales, but the reality is that their party is adamant that they wish to pursue a policy of putting profits above performance. Plaid Cymru in Wales have helped put an end to the internal market of the health service because we feel that patient care should always be the priority. I am sure that NHS staff across Wales will be deeply worried about what the Tories may do if they get their hands on the service in Wales. Clearly they cannot be trusted. Hywel Williams MP: Mr Cameron's speech today is very revealing of his government's ideological agenda. The NHS reforms which the UK coalition is so intent to push through are a cynical attempt at shrinking the state – no matter what the cost to the quality of our public services. Wales has already rejected these ideological ideas that Cameron is promoting. In the recent budget for Wales, the Plaid-driven Welsh government refused to neglect essential services, and instead decided to protect our nation's schools, skills and health. If the Tories in Wales had their way, then Wales would suffer massive cuts to funding given to schools, children and the elderly. It is a shame that Mr Cameron has chosen to prioritise the profits of private medical companies instead of doing the same. Funding for public services across the UK will suffer as a result.
