Dear Sir/Madam

Building links and developing cooperation

At our AGM in Caerdydd, Cymru/Wales last month the following resolution was unanimously passed:

'For the Celtic League to build on its links, develop cooperation and establish new contacts with other organisations and groups internationally that work to promote the Celtic languages, culture and identity of the Celtic people e.g. Office of Gaelic Affairs in Nova Scotia.'

As you may already know, the Celtic League was founded in 1961 in Cymru/Wales by political activists from the Celtic countries who wanted pan Celticism to have a more widespread and political influence. In 1975 the League founded Carn, which has continued to become the longest running pan Celtic publication of its type in the world.

The Celtic League has branches in the six Celtic countries, in addition to a branch in England, the USA and an International branch. In the past we have also had a branch in Nova Scotia. Earlier this year we wrote to Lewis Mackinnon from the Office of Gaelic Affairs, congratulating him on being appointed to a permanent position as CEO of the Office and offering future assistance in his work where required.

In relation to our AGM resolution, I am now writing to you to inquire if there is one of your members who would be willing to maintaining contact with the League in furthering your aims and activities and/or setting up a Branch of the League in Nova Scotia. I have viewed your website and believe that there are many points of common interest among us. If one (or several) of your members is keen to become more involved in establishing a link or even reorganising a Branch of the League in Nova Scotia, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

For your interest, I have included the Constitution of the Celtic League and look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Rhisiart Tal-e-bot General Secretary"
