NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE Kernow branch are really on the ?front foot? in relation to the newspaper article insulting Cornwall and the Cornish in the Western Daily News. In the latest development Michael Chappell (Kernow branch Convenor) has referred the issue to Avon and Somerset police This from Mike?s latest circular to those supporting the campaign - the link is to the original article: ?Re. (voir le site) I have now reported Chris Rundle to Avon and Somerset Police for a possible breach of Section 18 of the Public Order Act, 1986 which states: A person who uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting, is guilty of an offence if - (a) he intends thereby to stir up racial hatred, or (b) having regard to all the circumstances racial hatred is likely to be stirred up thereby. As the Cornish are now a recognised National Minority, this would seem to be an applicable section of the law.? If you are from Cornwall (or indeed to wider Celtic diaspora) and wish to support the campaign contact Michael Chappell via: K ernow [at] celticleague.net J B Moffatt (Mr) Director of Information Celtic League 12/03/15 (Please note that replies to correspondence received by the League and posted on CL News are usually scanned hard copies. Obviously every effort is made to ensure the scanning process is accurate but sometimes errors do occur.)
