Rennes/Roazhon 25.10.06: Press Release from ABP
Computer technology in Brittany kick started: Rennes heading forwards
[ABP] Inspired by a communiqué from Salon des Jeudis, (*) Computer Technicians are now popular again !
From 2001 to 2003, employment among computer technicians was in crisis due to the unfavourable economic situation. Early in 2004 the unemployment rate among such workers reached 8.7%. However, the computer technology sector is now hiring again and the unemployment rate has decreased by 50% reaching 5.3% this summer.
Following this tendency, Brittany - boosted by the various university and SIII sites that were set up in Rennes - is now in need of computer technicians and engineers.
The computer technology sector of activity is strengthened by the strong presence of telecommunications (mainly pooled in Brittany). This sector employs as many people in the RetD of new products as in the creation and implementation of information systems and infrastructures.
Cédric Barbier, founder of LesJeudis.com, the number 1 website for computer technology employment stated:
“The employment crisis for the computer technology sector has no doubt come to an end in the West region with a significant decrease in the unemployment rate and numerous jobs offered by the SSII. The sector is therefore being kick-started by Rennes, which is taking advantage of a strong economic situation and an important university site.”
