The 54th Festival Interceltique de Lorient: Honoring "Les Cousins d'Amérique"

Lorient is once again gearing up to host one of the largest gatherings of Celtic culture and music in the world. The 54th Festival Interceltique de Lorient, taking place from August 1 to 10, 2025, will shine a spotlight on the vibrant cultures of North America's East Coast, with a theme dedicated to "Les Cousins d'Amérique". This year’s edition will celebrate the ties between Brittany and regions such as Acadia, Louisiana, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island, Boston, and New York.

Alan Stivell and More: A Stellar Lineup

Among the first confirmed artists is the legendary Alan Stivell, who will grace the stage on Sunday, August 3, with his "Liberté Tour" at the Espace Jean-Pierre Pichard. Known for his groundbreaking contributions to Celtic music, Stivell promises an unforgettable evening blending his iconic classics with orchestral elements.

Another highlight is Solas, the renowned Irish-American band that recently returned to the stage after an eight-year hiatus. They will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a special performance on Tuesday, August 5.

Adding to the festivities, the Canadian group Le Vent du Nord will perform with the Orchestre National de Bretagne in an exclusive collaboration. This symphonic celebration will take place on Wednesday, August 6 and promises to be a mesmerizing blend of Québécois folk and orchestral grandeur.

A Celebration of North American Celtic Heritage

The festival is returning to a theme last explored in 2012. This year, it promises a deeper dive into the unique cultural exchanges between Brittany and its "cousins" across the Atlantic. From vibrant Acadian rhythms to soulful Louisiana melodies, the event will create bridges between continents through music, dance, and shared heritage.
