Following the League's Saint Piran's Day 2008 campaign to persuade all town and city councils in Cornwall to follow Bodmin Town Council's lead and declare March 5th a public holiday for their employees, Saint Blaise Town Council have written to the League to say that during their March meeting the Council decided that they "would like to see it come into effect".

Further details were not provided by the Town Clerk, Gaynor Mamo, but the General Secretary of the League has written further for clarification. In addition to Saint Blaise Town Council, Penzance Town Council and Truro City Council have stated that they will discuss the possibility of making Saint Piran's Day a public holiday at their next meeting.

David Gallie, Town Clerk for Penzance, said:

"…this is not something that Penzance Town Council has considered in the past but we will take it forward for discussion during the next cycle of meetings at the end of May."

Russell Holden of Truro City Council also stated that:

"We will be referring it to our full Council meeting to be held at the end of March 2008."

Needless to say the League will be chasing up all the other Town Council's written to over the course of the next couple of months.
