From one shore to the other, Saint Telo, a link between two peoples: Welsh and Bretons. On August 20th, 1989, Plogoneg, a small town in South-West Brittany, between Douarnenez and Kemper/Quimper, 2 miles south-east from Locronan, confirmed its twinning with Llandysul in Wales, by signing the Charter of friendship. In commemoration, for the 20th anniversary of the signature of the Charter, a great show will be held this summer in Plogoneg.In Plogoneg on 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th August Ur wech e oa Telo. An original event which mobilizes all the population and professional actors: http://telo-internet.eu to see the whole development. A Breton-French bilingual show with, on Saturday evening, simultaneous translation in Welsh for the guests: http://telo-plogonnec.eu/?page_id=107 on the corresponding page. It is indeed the first time when a whole population represented by 170 volunteers, makes a commitment in the preparation of an event. – Extras in the "Sound and Light" with professional comedians;
– "Speaking" extras, that is amateurs already having the experience of theater and Breton language;
– Costumes masters helped punctually by a professional;
– decorators for the sets and stage;
– numerous volunteers for the numerous technical tasks and the estate management. All of them under the leadership of an experimented director and a specialist of bilingualism in various countries and naturally in Brittany. It is a multidimensional experience:
– the theatrical dimension because the actors express themselves live and not through a sound track, what supposes long working hours (6 week-ends for “speakers” and one and a half month for the professionals and "speakers");
– the immense experience of social link because all generations and sociocultural background are represented and work together.
