Basque Country: Ban on Udalbiltza's General Assembly

EMGANN, the left-wing Breton independence movement, denounce the ban on Udalbiltza's General Assembly, a Basque national institution.

This ban represents one more stone in the wall that Madrid wants to build to prevent activists from reaching a political solution to the Basque conflict.

- Iñaki de Juana Chaos was sentenced to 12 and a half years' imprisonment for two political articles published in Gara

- The Lehendakaari, President of Euskadi Autonomous Community, Jose Ibarretxe is being charged for having met Batasuna leaders

- Batasuna is still illegal

- Filipe Bidart's call for release on parole was rejected

The French State still refuses to get involved in the process in order to reach a political solution, although it has taken part in the policy of repression for many years.

While the European Parliament supports a political solution, Madrid and Paris keep reducing the democratic boundaries in an effort to crack down on the ETA organisation and are thereby ignoring all international calls for negotiation.

Yes to a political solution!
